About VMPKP

Built for the children
of this coast.

An educational trust founded in 2008 at Asangaon, Taluka Dahanu, District Palghar — built for the children of this coast.

Who we are

An educational ecosystem.

V. M. Patil Krushi Pratishthan runs five colleges — design, pharmacy, agriculture, hospitality and law — from a single campus, the Gurukul Shikshan Sankul. It was set up for the education of tribal, farming and fishing-community children of the Palghar coast, and it still is.

Every college the trust has opened teaches a qualification that would otherwise mean leaving the district. The campus went to the students, rather than the other way round.

Our story

Since 2008.

Dahanu taluka is a coastal belt of chikoo orchards, paddy and fishing villages. Families here long had to choose between keeping their children at home and sending them to Mumbai or Vapi for anything beyond school. The trust was formed to remove that choice — and thousands of students from fishing, farming and tribal communities have passed through it since.

It began in 2008 with a single agriculture polytechnic, Krishi Tantra Niketan. Design teaching followed, then the pharmacy and law colleges. Each was added to the same ground at Asangaon, so that a student can move between a library, a hostel, a workshop and a laboratory without leaving the campus.

“The campus went to the students, rather than the other way round.”

The founders

V. M. Patil Krushi Pratishthan was established in 2008 by Mr. Milind Madhukar Patil and Mr. Vikas Madhukar Patil, with the development of poor and tribal children in mind.

The trust credits its foundation to the efforts of the Patil family, and in particular to Shri. Madhukar Narayan Patil and Mrs. Manini Madhukar Patil.

Vision

Vision

To be a centre of professional education and community development that brings every generation of learners on the Palghar coast within reach of a meaningful career — without having to leave home.

Mission

Mission

  1. 01Create an atmosphere in which the zest for learning skills thrives.
  2. 02Train students not only to be professionals, but people of values and social awareness.
  3. 03Teach, close to home, the qualifications that would otherwise mean leaving the district.
  4. 04Serve the farmers, growers and women of the surrounding villages — not only enrolled students.

Core values

What we stand for.

Six values guide how we teach, how we work together and how we serve the region.
  • 01

    Access

Professional education within reach of tribal, farming and fishing-community families.

  • 02

    Practical skill

Learning by making, testing and growing — in studios, laboratories, kitchens and fields.

  • 03

    Values

Graduates who are professionals and people of values and social awareness.

  • 04

    Service

Work for the farmers, growers and women of the villages around the campus.

  • 05

    Respect for the land

A lasting commitment to agriculture and the people who depend on it.

  • 06

    Togetherness

Five colleges, one campus and one trust — sharing a library, a hostel and a bus route.

Educational philosophy

Three things the trust holds to.

  1. 01

    Education where the students are

Every college the trust has opened teaches a qualification that would otherwise mean leaving the district. That is the whole design: the campus went to the students rather than the other way round.

  2. 02

    Skills, not only certificates

Studios, workshops, laboratories, an orchard and a nursery are all on site. Students spend their time making, testing and growing things, not only reading about them.

  3. 03

The village is part of the campus

The soil laboratory, the nursery, the ripening chamber and the garment training exist for farmers and women who are not enrolled anywhere. The trust counts them as its work too.

Community focus

Beyond the campus.

A mobile soil laboratory that has served more than 25,000 farmers, a nursery, polyhouse training, a cold storage and ripening chamber, garment skills training for women and an ambulance for nearby villages.
